Chicago-area
Nursing Homes Become Polling Places for Residents
Illinoisans affiliated with nursing
homes account for more than half a million votes in 2004
election
WHAT: |
Chicago-area nursing home residents get their
vote out early. Member nursing homes of the
Illinois Council on Long Term Care, a professional
association of nearly 200 nursing facilities in
Illinois, are ensuring that all residents are able
to vote in the 2004 election regardless of their
situations. Homes are transforming private rooms
into voting sites, complete with election judges,
for the Health Care Absentee Voter Program in
which hundreds of nursing home residents
participate.
